The Ugly Head of Doubt

The Ugly Head of Doubt

“And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts?”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:38‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Life throws various different scenarios to us, some are really minor, whilst others are major and are truly life changing events. Either way, these scenarios, both big and small are opportunities to exercise faith. They will cause us to either TRUST and believe that the outcome will be okay or they will cause us to DOUBT, thinking about all the terrible “what if’s” and a 100 different negative outcomes.

This past week I realised that I failed one of my assignments for my course. If you know me and my journey to university and this course, you can only imagine how my heart SANK when I read my results and saw the letter F in the grade box. I was confused and distraught. I became even more pained when I was told I had just over 2 weeks to resubmit it.

I started only naturally to think about me failing the second attempt. I began contemplating how I am now going to be forced to work dead end customer service jobs which I LOATHE. Oh my heart pained me, each thought caused tears to stream down my face. Each thought caused me to question God and this whole journey that I have been on.

Even after emailing my course leader to gain feedback that, that I could at least make an attempt to “correct” my work, doubt plagued my mind so much, that I couldn’t even bring myself to open my laptop to start working on my assignment.

I felt so hopeless, I felt as if it was too late, I felt as if my dream of becoming a dental professional would just remain that, a dream and nothing else! My heart was broken.

Doubt, causes you to throw the towel in and to give up. It causes you to focus on the negative aspects of your situation rather than the many opportunities of growth that God has placed within the situation. It takes away peace that He wants to give us and the assurance that we can trust Him, even in the most challenging periods of our lives.

I held on to whatever strength that He had given me and the hope that He hasn’t brought me this far, on such a long painful journey to just leave me, half way through the course. So, I began to attack my assignment knowing and believing that he had placed everything within me to pass my assignment. Believing that HE will see me through this course to becoming a dental professional!

Whatever challenges you face this week or have been facing, whatever situation arises which forces you into a sea of negativity, please don’t forget that you have the choice to either sit in a sea of negativity and Doubt and give up, OR you can get up, do what you can do pertaining to the situation whilst trusting and believing that God will see you through!

“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
