Demons Assigned to Your PrayeRs

Am I the only one who’s prayed for a specific thing, not once not twice but a good number of times and seem to get no answer? It’s as if the situation has not changed, the problem is still there, healing hasn’t come, restoration hasn’t arrived, money is still not there, the books still ain’t selling,  and as a result you just stop praying? Because it seems as if God refuses to hear your cries, your pleads and that he’s pushed our requests to one side? Surely I’m not the only one who has felt like this.

I’ve never taken much notice of the book of Daniel. The most I could tell you about him is that; he was thrown into the lions den and he came out alive, he had three famous friends - Shadrach Meshach and Abednego and that Daniel prayed 3 times a day. And that’s pretty much it, however today I was reading a devotional on prayer and it mentioned his 3 week prayer that required more than one angel to help answer his prayers.

Daniel‬ ‭10:12-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia.”

‭‭So after Daniel was praying earnestly for three weeks on a specific thing, he was visited in a vision by an angel. The angel In verses 12 first reassured him that from the very moment his prayers left his mouth they were heard in heaven! Although this angel was sent from DAY ONE to give the answer of his prayer, he could not, all because he was at war, he was being blocked, by the Spirit Prince of Persia, for 21 days.

Stick with me guys!

An angel at war with the Prince of Persia??? What would an angel be doing at war with a flimsy human being? Well he wasn’t!

My favourite go to verse in the bible - Ephesians 6:12 says “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

This angel that left heaven to deliver Daniel’s answer to his prayer was held up by a principality, an evil ruler of the unseen world, he was at war with an angel, a fallen angel, a demon. The same length of time Daniel prayed, it was the same amount of time that the angels were at war over this precious answered prayer. My brain began to wonder, what would have happened if Daniel had given up after day 3, if he wasn’t persistent and get annoyed and fed up (like many of us do) and stopped praying about the situation, would the angel sent with his answer had prevailed or would the demon get his victory. I believe the demon would have blocked victoriously the angel assigned to Daniel’s answered prayer.

Now when I read this I started thinking about some of my own prayers. The ones I feel like God ain’t answering or he has pushed to one side. My whole view on my unanswered prayers changed within an instant.

I believe our prayers just like Daniel’s are heard as they leave our mouth. However from Daniel’s account our lack of perseverance a lot of the time can be the reason why there is a delay in some of our prayers being answered (apart from the fact that their are some prayers that God will outright answer with a wait). When praying we need to remember that there Are forces that we yet cannot see that are at work to prevent us receiving our answers to prayers! Principalities assigned to prevent breakthroughs; breakthroughs in our finances, relationships, education, career, however when we continue to pray and believe in prayer whatever principality has been assigned, to prevent our breakthrough by the power of God will soon be unassigned.

Whatever it is that you feel God isn’t answering, He’s heard and he’s answered just keep praying, remembering that we battle not against flesh but again principalities.

Happy new Week
